MW Fall Arts Showcase is Friday

WORTHINGTON -- The Music and Theatre department of Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Worthington campus, will present the Fall Arts Showcase at 7 p.m. Friday in the Fine Arts Theater.

The program will feature the Acting Basics class in scenes from Shakespeare's plays along with an excerpt from Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple" and a short play by David Ives entitled "Words, Words, Words."

The Minnesota West Choir will feature Intermezzi of Italian, French and German songs.

Glass work by alumnus Thomas Maras is on display in the gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

Landgaard appointed financial aid director

WORTHINGTON -- Jodi Langaard has been named as Director of Financial Aid for all Minnesota West Community and Technical College campuses and centers.

She will begin her duties as Director of Financial Aid on Monday.

In her new role, she will be responsible for promoting access, development and administration of financial aid programs.

Landgaard received her undergraduate degree from Dakota Wesleyan University and her master's degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota.

Van Heukelom named nursing director at MW

WORTHINGTON -- Ruth Van Heukelom has been appointed as the Associate Degree Nursing Program Director.

Van Heukelom has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Graceland College, a master's degree in nursing from South Dakota State University and is completing course work for her doctorate degree in nursing practice.

Local students cast in Augustana play

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --Jared Mitchell, Fulda, and Martha Stai, Inwood, Iowa, have been cast in the Augustana Theatre production of "It's a Wonderful Life."

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at the Edith Mortenson Center Theatre.

ST. JOSEPH -- Ashley Aggen, Worthington, is studying in Greco, Roman culture during fall semester 2009 through the Office for Education Abroad at the College of Saint Benedict.

Aggen is a junior accounting major. She is the daughter of Jan and Elwin Aggen of Worthington.
