Worthington native named Best in Class
WORTHINGTON -- Nicolle Donovan, Worthington, has been named a 2009 Student Achievement Award winner by The Wall Street Journal.
Donovan is a graduate of Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. For details, look in an upcoming issue of the Daily Globe.
MW to host Africa presentation
WORTHINGTON -- Minnesota West Community and Technical College will host a multicultural presentation on Liberia, Africa, titled "My Refugee Experience" at 6 p.m. Wednesday in room 501 on the Worthington campus.

Doe Appleton will share his experience living in the Buduburahm Refugee Resettlement Camp from 2002-2007. During that time period he started an "orphanage" that currently houses more than 70 children.
The program is free and open to the public.
Local students to attend band festival
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Students Deann Naab, Michael Benitz, Katie Fleming and Allison Jaycox have been selected to represent Worthington High School at the 52nd annual Augustana College Concert Band Festival Nov. 13 and 14 on the Augustana College campus.
About 300 high school instrumentalists and 70 band directors representing schools from Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota will attend the two-day event. The students will spend their weekend attending rehearsals, clinics, recitals and recreation activities.
There will be a Grand Finale Concert at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Great Hall of the Washington Pavilion. The concert will feature the Augustana Band and three festival bands, comprised of participating high school musicians.
NCC to offer free biodiesel class
SHELDON, Iowa -- Northwest Iowa Community College, in partnership with the Iowa Biodiesel Board, will offer a free biodiesel education class from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 in the auditorium in Building C on the NCC campus. Pizza will be served.
