Registrants sought for Teen Hackathon

WORTHINGTON — Teen Hackathon, a free, all-day-event for techies of all abilities in grades 7-12, will take place Nov. 3 at Central Park, Woodbury.

A bus of Worthington students will leave at 5 a.m. from the north parking lot at Minnesota West Community College’s Worthington campus and return by 9:30 p.m. The trip is being coordinated through a partnership between Minnesota West, Nobles County Integration Collaborative and CoderDojo SWMN.

Teens will work in groups and spend the day designing and coding projects in wearable technology. Mainstream examples of wearable technology today include items like fitness trackers, the Apple Watch and Google Glass.

Volunteer mentors will work with each group to help teens brainstorm through the design process, research and troubleshoot challenges. Mentors will also help their group present the finished wearable tech project to an audience.

To register, contact Dan Harrington at (507) 360-7472. Registration deadline is Oct. 22.
