BREWSTER - Round Lake-Brewster School District residents overwhelmingly approved funding a school addition to its school in Brewster.

Voters approved the district’s $1,995,000 bonding request Tuesday by a 218 (yes) to 68 (no) vote.

“Our communities have always supported the school and they did again today,” said RL-B Board of Education Chairman Jerry Luinenburg, expressing appreciation. “It’s an exciting time.”

The addition onto the front of the existing pre-kindergarten through eighth grade facility will include a new gymnasium, four new classrooms, an elevator and secure entrance. Funds may also be used for various deferred maintenance projects.

The school in Nobles County has a student enrollment of approximately 350 students.

Construction is expected to begin around June 1 with completion anticipated in April 2020.
