WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Area YMCA will begin offering a Learning Camp for children ages 5 to 12 beginning Monday.
The camp, open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, is for children of Tier 2 essential personnel, including educators, gas and electric utility workers, food distribution personnel, water treatment staff and others, as outlined at https://bit.ly/2UgbOBw.
The Worthington Area YMCA is one of several facilities across the state providing a daily camp program.
Wellness checks, including monitoring of a child’s temperature, will be conducted daily. Consistent and regular hand washing will be part of each day, and social distancing will be practiced.
The typical daily schedule will include a morning meeting and group activity, snack, physical activities, distance learning, lunch with quiet time and reading, outdoor time, distance learning and snack, open play and camp breakdown. Campers should bring their own water bottle, distance learning device with charger, appropriate outdoor clothing and tennis shoes. Children must be picked up between 5 and 5:30 p.m.
Parents are asked to register online at ymcaworthington.org/registration by 7 p.m. the day before their child will be at camp. There is a $30 charge per day to attend, and scholarships are available for qualified families by contacting the YMCA in advance.
