Elizabeth House gets grant

WINDOM -- The Minnesota Department of Health awarded a $75,000 Positive Alternatives Grant to Elizabeth House, an interdenominational non-profit organization serving disadvantaged families in Cottonwood, Jackson and Watonwan counties.

WINDOM -- The Minnesota Department of Health awarded a $75,000 Positive Alternatives Grant to Elizabeth House, an interdenominational non-profit organization serving disadvantaged families in Cottonwood, Jackson and Watonwan counties.

The grant focuses on providing support services and education for women who are pregnant or have babies 12 months old or younger. Funding will be used to assist area women in accessing local services, including online English as a second language courses and diploma equivalency classes, as well as assisting them in finding employment, housing, transportation to medical appointments and childcare.

Life skills classes will be from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at Elizabeth House/Windom Pregnancy Center, 1152 Fourth Ave., Windom.

Life skills classes will also be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 8 at Community Bible Church, 500 Klein St., Mountain Lake.
