ELLSWORTH - Brian and Kathy Chapa of the Ellsworth Locker earned two champion awards, four reserve champion awards and two honorable mentions for their entries in the recent Minnesota Meat Processors Convention at Doubletree Hotel and Civic Center, Rochester.
Their awards are: champion, beef jerky and onion and pepper brats; reserve champion, boneless ham, smoked pork chops, habanero pepper Jack stix and hickory smoked stix; honorable mention, chipotle pepper brats and beef bacon.
A total of 472 meat products were entered in 26 categories at the annual convention. Products were judged by 34 experts in the meat industry.
