Employees escape injuries after explosion at Clarkfield grain elevator

CLARKFIELD - All employees have been accounted for and no injuries were reported after an explosion at the Clarkfield Grain Elevator around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Clarkfield is about 25 miles north of Marshall in far western Minnesota.
Yellow Medicine County Sheriff Bill Flatten said his office received a 911 call reporting the explosion and fire, according to a Wednesday news release. The cause is unknown at this point and still under investigation.
The Clarkfield Fire Department inspected the elevator and determined that is was safe for elevator staff to return to assess the damage from the explosion.
The elevator is owned by Prairie Grain Partners, LLC in Clarkfield.
