FARGO — Daniel Stoa, who was an assistant coach for the Fargo Oak Grove cross country and track and field teams, on Friday, Feb. 12, was charged with possession of child pornography and promoting a sexual performance by a minor, per the Cass County Jail website.

A statement from Oak Grove President Mike Slette said the school has relieved the 33-year-old Stoa of his coaching duties and he has been barred from the school’s premises.

“We are both disheartened and saddened by this news,” Slette’s statement said. “But, as always, our first concern is for our students. At this time, the investigation does not indicate any connection to our students or school. Of course, the school will participate fully with all investigations conducted by authorities, should the need arise.”

Stoa additionally contributes scores, schedules and standings to northdakota-scores.net and runs the @NDScores account on Twitter, which compiles and reports high school sports results from across the state of North Dakota.

Ryan Weinzierl, the owner of Eleven-Seven LLC, which owns northdakota-scores.net and minnesota-scores.net, said in a statement that Stoa's independent contractor agreement has been terminated.

"It is extremely saddening and disheartening on so many levels and for so many people that it feels insignificant to even have to put into words," Weinzierl's statement said. "From our end, Mr. Stoa's access to the database has been deactivated and the independent contractor agreement has been terminated while the legal system goes through its process."
