WORTHINGTON -- A Worthington woman is facing possible charges of fourth-degree assault and disorderly conduct or obstructing the legal process with force after a fight that broke out Friday night at the Long Branch Saloon had her taking a swing at a police officer.

Stephanie Lynn Tague, 21, of Worthington, was arrested shortly after an officer tried to pull her away from the fight. According to the police report, Tague allegedly took a swing at the officer with her elbow and tried to get back into the scuffle.

Public Safety Director Mike Cumiskey said officers were called to the Long Branch at 1:13 a.m. Saturday morning when an employee called the police department. When officers arrived, they were directed to the north dance room, where they saw several groups of people standing together. A group of males were holding one male back, and Tague was trying to get to that male.

It was while an officer was trying to reach the male through the crowd that Tague was pulled away and subsequently tried to hit the officer.

"She wasn't cooperative," Cumiskey said. "She wanted to fight with an officer and did."

The employee who reported the fight later told an officer she had been punched in the face while trying to break up the fight but was unsure who had hit her.

Charges are expected to be filed against Tague within the next few days. Officers were unable to determine how the fight started.
