WORTHINGTON -- After a week of pawing through flower pots, overturning paving stones and peering into tree branches, Worthington residents can rest easy: the King Turkey Day Medallion has been found.
"I called it in when I found it. They didn't believe me at first," said Nathan Kness, 21, who found the medallion in a flowering bush at the corner of Second Avenue and 10th Street at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
Plenty of people had already scouted out the little patio area on the corner this week. Kness found the medallion after he took a break to go home and get a bigger flashlight than the one he'd been using.
He'd looked for the medallion in the same place Monday and hadn't found it.
"There was a lot of people there," Kness said. "I didn't climb -- I stuck my hand in there, though."

The medallion, stuck to a King Turkey Day button, was hanging on a branch of the dense bush. Even in daylight it would have been hard to spot without a flashlight, and Kness was out looking before the sun was completely up.
"Why not? It's not that early," he said.
Kness looked for the medallion every once in a while in previous years' hunts, but never found it. This year, he said, he got lucky.
"I asked my friends if they were looking for it. They said it was a waste of time," Kness said.
Kness received $100 from the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce for finding the medallion. This year's hunt was sponsored by Ocheda Seed Farm, Smith Trucking Inc. and Worthington Electric.
"It was too easy," Kness said. "They should have made it harder."
The following were the daily clues for finding the King Turkey Day medallion:
Monday: Along the parade route there's a lot of commotion, for Turkey Day's "Hometown Music Explosion."

Tuesday: Walkers, runners, floats and school bands will pass by here on their way to review stands.
Wednesday: There's music piped in along 10th Street, and our downtown flowers can't be beat!
Thursday: Pick up some money or learn to line dance, then sit for a while if you get the chance.
Friday: In days gone by you'd pay to park here, now there is music and plenty of beer.
Saturday: Sing a little jingle -- it's "Mm-mm good," the medallion is hidden by a bench made of wood.
