SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Murray, Cottonwood, Nobles, Jackson, Pipestone and Rock counties in Minnesota and Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson and O'Brien counties in Iowa. The watch will begin this evening and expire late tonight.

Areas of heavy rain may be possible again this evening and overnight as another upper-level disturbance moves eastward. The location of greatest concern for heavy rainfall, coinciding with already-saturated ground, includes southwest Minnesota, southeast South Dakota and extreme northwest Iowa.

The good news, stated the National Weather Service, is that an upper ridge of high pressure will build into the area after tonight, giving dry weather on Sunday and through much of next week.

Areas of heavy rainfall totaling one to three inches may once again fall in the watch area. Because the ground is already very saturated, any rainfall of one inch or more can cause flash flooding.
