Iowa State Patrol: car vs. pedestrian, 8:48 p.m. Wednesday, U.S. 71 and 19th Street, Milford. A 2015 Honda CRV operated by Jerald Harbst, 67, of Spirit Lake was southbound on U.S. 71 when a pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck. The individual, Nicholas Mortenson, 27, of Milford, was airlifted to Avera McKennon Hospital with unspecified injuries. Assisting at the scene were the Milford Police Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Milford Fire Department/EMS.

2:03 p.m. Thursday: 22000 block of 140th Street, Wilmont, fire of a rubbish pile that was left unattended and started to spread. The Wilmont Fire Department was dispatched and firefighters were on scene for about an hour, according to Fire Chief Steve Joens.
