Crash

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: 8 p.m. Sunday, Iowa 9 and Indian Avenue. A 2015 Kenworth T680 operated by Richard Fagan, 36, of Winfield, Kansas that was pulling a 2013 Wabash trailer failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and entered in front of a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Dianne Kass, 55, of Sibley, Iowa. The Equinox struck the side of the trailer, causing both vehicles to become disabled north of the intersection. Fagan was uninjured; he sustained approximately $55,000 in damages to his unit. Kass and her unidentified passenger both had serious injuries; they were extricated from the vehicle by the Rock Rapids Fire Department and transported to Sanford Rock Rapids by the Lyon County Ambulance. The Equinox sustained about $12,000 in damages.
