HILLS -- Republican-endorsed candidate Keith Forshey announced Tuesday he was withdrawing from the State House District 22A race.
In a news release distributed Tuesday evening, Forshey cited family considerations and personal reasons that prevented him from pursuing the race for the seat currently held by Doug Magnus (R-Slayton), who is seeking the open Senate seat.
"It is simply not possible for me to continue pursuing this seat and represent the people of HD22A at this time," Forshey stated. "My family must come first."
He said he plans to stay active in politics and hopes the opportunity to serve in a public office will present itself again in the future when he is able to wage a full-fledged campaign.
Forshey tendered his withdrawal to Rich Koch, Jackson, the Senate District 22 Republican Chair. Koch said party delegates will gather at a convention June 19 to endorse a candidate.
