WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington Area Foundation is now accepting applications for grants to be awarded in November.

The Worthington Area Foundation is a tax-exempt, non-profit philanthropic organization funded by large and small donations from generous contributors. Foundation grants are made to non-profit, non-religious and non-political groups. An eligible organization should promote local culture, environmental causes, educational, recreational or civic activities essential to building and strengthening the community. Organizations must have a 501c3 tax status to be eligible.

A total of $10,000 is available for distribution to qualifying organizations. In appreciation of its donors, the foundation will sponsor a Chamber mixer at BenLee's on Nov. 27. Presentations will be made to this year's grant winners at this time. For more information about the foundation, please plan to attend this event as board members will be present to answer questions.

Grant applications may be picked up at the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, 1121 Third Ave., Worthington. Completed applications must be returned to Becky Schilling, 1904 Willow Ave., Worthington 56187 by Oct. 5.
