Fort Ripley loses its post office
FORT RIPLEY, Minn.—The U.S. Postal Service will cease postal operations at its Fort Ripley Post Office after losing its lease.
The last day of operation will be Oct. 20. Fort Ripley is a leased facility that was recently sold. The new owner is not interested in having the Postal Service as a tenant and therefore is not renewing the lease, a news release stated.
The Postal Service is currently seeking alternate quarters for relocation in Fort Ripley. A timeline for this process is not available at this time. In the interim, retail services are available at the Little Falls Post Office and the Brainerd Post Office.
The Little Falls Post Office is open 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:15-10 a.m. Saturdays. The Brainerd Post Office is open 7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
The Postal Service is working with Fort Ripley to install Cluster Box Units for Post Office Box
delivery services. More information will be provided at a future date once a location has been confirmed.
"The Postal Service will do everything possible to continue providing uninterrupted service to the community during this unexpected situation to ensure a seamless relocation for our customers," a news release stated. "The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations."
