WORTHINGTON — The fields of candidates are now set for November races for the Worthington City Council and Independent School District 518 Board of Education, as the filing period came to a close Tuesday for city offices, school board positions and some townships.

For the Ward 1 seat on the Worthington City Council, Aida Simon filed Tuesday afternoon and will face off against Chris Kielblock. Alan Oberloh, who currently holds the seat and has also previously served three terms as Worthington's mayor, is not seeking re-election.

For the Ward 2 council seat, David Janssen filed on Tuesday and will face incumbent councilwoman Amy Ernst in November.

Chad Cummings is seeking re-election to the at-large Worthington City Council seat, with no one filed to run against him.

For the school board, incumbents Joel Lorenz, Linden Olson, Stephen Schnieder and Brad Shaffer have all filed for re-election. Challenger Tom Prins will try to oust any of those four candidates.
