SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa - The new Industrial Training Center at Iowa Lakes Community College was unveiled Thursday as area residents joined college officials at the campus in Spirit Lake.

The make-over was initiated when college officials listened to area business leaders and identified ways in which the college could serve them better.

"The renovations made to the Spirit Lake campus are among the most innovative and practical initiatives we have implemented here," said Iowa Lakes President Valerie Newhouse. "The lab is portable and modular and we will provide skills that focus on industry training needs. We can adjust rapidly to meet the changing demands of our business partners and prepare students for jobs for today - and tomorrow."

Jolene Rogers, executive director of community and business relations, also spoke at the dedication.

"These classes offer skill attainment in high-demand areas such as electrical maintenance, welding and computer analytics," Rogers said. "These enhanced facilities are welcoming and create an environment of engagement."
