Jackson, Fairmont advance with victories

JACKSON -- Blaise Jacobsen went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs Friday to lead Jackson's amateur baseball team to an 8-1 victory over Windom in a First Nite League playoff game.

JACKSON -- Blaise Jacobsen went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs Friday to lead Jackson's amateur baseball team to an 8-1 victory over Windom in a First Nite League playoff game.

Jacobsen drove in the first run of the game in the sixth inning with an RBI double before adding another RBI in Jackson's three-run seventh.

Andy Wolf went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases for Jackson, which added three runs in the eighth.

Travis Karschnik and Matt Anderson each went 2-for-4 to lead third-seeded Windom, which will host Fox Lake in an elimination game Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Tom Hady allowed an unearned run and struck out four to lead second-seeded Jackson, which will face Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Fairmont.

FAIRMONT -- With an eight-run third inning, Fairmont defeated Heron Lake in an amateur playoff baseball game Friday.

James Anderson suffered the loss, allowing six runs while walking two and striking out one in two innings of work.

Keith Rogers threw the final six innings and allowed two earned runs while walking two and striking out three for HL.

Ike Rogers led the Lakers with a pair of hits, including a double. He also scored the lone HL run off an RBI single from Jerrad Meinders.

Trevor Leopold had a pair of hits, while Chad Knutson had the other hit for the Lakers.

HL will host Mountain Lake Sunday.
