WORTHINGTON -- Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Rep. Tim Walz will host a meeting with Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Michael Connor and local officials to discuss the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System (LCRWS) project at 1 p.m. Monday at Worthington City Hall.
The meeting will focus on the need to complete the project so communities in southwest Minnesota have the infrastructure they need to grow and thrive.
Last November, Klobuchar and Walz met with U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and other Administration officials to discuss completing the LCRWS.
Klobuchar also recently cosponsored the Authorized Rural Water Projects Completion Act, which would provide $80 million per year for 15 years, outside of the annual appropriations process, to complete construction of authorized rural water projects.
The meeting will also include Worthington Mayor Alan Oberloh, Luverne Mayor Pat Baustian and representatives from Worthington, Lincoln-Pipestone, Luverne and Rock County Water Systems.
