WORTHINGTON -- On the left side of the memorial at the Nobles County Freedom Veterans' Memorial Park, wedged between a spot where the rock meets the brick, Phone Chandaswang spotted the elusive King Turkey Day Medallion at about 6:30 Wednesday night.
"I looked Tuesday with no luck, but found it within 10 minutes yesterday," he said, standing in the office of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce Thursday morning.
He, his cousin and another man were all searching the veteran park and had stopped at one point to talk strategy, Chandaswang joked.
"The man said he'd been searching for three hours," he stated. "And my cousin gave up before I did."
Chandaswang said he has looked for the medallion a few other years and had been in the right location, but had never actually spotted the medallion. In Wednesday's clue, it was the mention of "D.C." that caught his attention.

"I looked on the memorial and saw 'D.C.,' then spotted a few names with 'D.C.,'" he admitted. "I took a couple steps back on the brick and spotted it."
Along with keeping the medallion, Chandaswang walked away with the $100 prize, which he plans to spend.
"I'm going to invest in a metal detector," he laughed. "I saw some of those being used this year. There was some fierce competition."
