ADRIAN — Adrian High School seniors Mayssa Tweet and Hiltyn Heitkamp have been awarded an American Red Cross High School Scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic school year.
Tweet and Heitkamp both earned a $1,250 scholarship due to their demonstrated leadership in the coordination and recruitment of blood drives for AHS’s blood program with the Red Cross. Tweet plans to attend Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter in the fall, and Heitkamp plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Alan and Cindy Cox of Cox Realty in Adrian support the high school blood drives.
“We so appreciate all the help from the students during our Red Cross blood drives,” said Cindy Cox, adviser and blood program leader. “They do a lot of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes including hanging posters, calling donors and helping the day of the drive! We have a wonderful group of students that are always willing to help with every pint that is needed and to help save lives.”
Adrian High School collected 214 pints of blood at four blood drives during the 2021-2022 academic year.
