JACKSON — The next deadline to apply for funds from Operation Round Up through Federated Rural Electric’s Trust Board is Sept. 23. Operation Round Up involves 77% of Federated’s members in Jackson and Martin counties who allow their monthly electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest dollar.
The “rounded up” change goes into a trust fund, and an independent Trust Board, which consists of Federated members, evaluates local funding requests and distributes the funds.

Since 1995 Federated’s Trust Board has distributed more than $835,000 to local organizations including senior dining, hospice, fire/ambulance departments and high school scholarships.
