SIOUX FALLS, S. D. — A blizzard warning has been extended until 6 a.m. Saturday for Nobles, Jackson and Cottonwood counties in Minnesota and Osceola and Dickinson counties in Iowa.
The wind chill warning remains in effect until noon Saturday.
Blowing snow will produce whiteout conditions in open areas. The hazardous conditions could impact commutes, and gusty winds could bring down tree branches. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
The worst conditions will be from this evening through Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Dangers
Travel has become treacherous, and any person stranded or trapped outdoors could encounter a life-threatening situation in a short amount of time.

People should avoid outside activities if possible, and wear appropriate clothing including a hat and gloves if going out.
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only, and those who do travel should bring a winter survival kit. Anyone stranded should remain with their vehicle.
Murray and Pipestone counties
The blizzard warning for Pipestone County will be in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday, and the wind chill warning will remain in effect until noon Saturday.
The worst conditions will be from this evening through Friday afternoon.
Rock County
The blizzard warning for Rock County will be in effect until 6 p.m. Friday, and the wind chill warning will continue until noon Saturday.
The worst conditions will be from this evening through early Friday afternoon.
