LAKEFIELD — Construction on Minnesota 86 through Lakefield is complete, and the detour that started in mid-April is expected to be removed today, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

For incidents reported the evening of Jan. 17 through the evening of Jan. 20.
The program is free and will begin at noon at the Jackson Library, 2 p.m. at the Lakefield Library and 5:30 p.m. at the Heron Lake Library.
Traffic had been detoured for reconstruction of 1.3 miles of Minnesota 86, a project that included grading, pavement, utility replacement, lighting, drainage and sidewalk reconstruction.
Benefits of the project are expected to include improved pedestrian accommodations, updated utilities, smoother road surfaces and increased safety along the corridor.
R & R Excavating, Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $8.29 million.
