BIGELOW — A Sioux Center, Iowa, man suffered non-life threatening injuries in a Wednesday morning head-on crash with a semi tractor on Minnesota 60, about a mile north of Bigelow.
According to information released by the Minnesota State Patrol, Calixto Lopez Morales, 33, was driving a 2008 Ford Escape southbound on Minnesota 60, while a 2009 Kenworth Tractor driven by Mark J. Bayliff, 46, of Hooper, Nebraska, was northbound. Bayliff entered the median and into the southbound lanes, colliding with the Ford Escape. The roads were snow and ice covered at the time of the crash, which was reported at 9:16 a.m.
Lopez Morales was transported to Sanford Worthington Medical Center. He was wearing his seatbelt and his airbag did deploy. Bayliff was not injured, and was also wearing his seatbelt.
Assisting at the scene were the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Bigelow Fire and Rescue, Worthington Fire Department and Worthington Ambulance.
Original post: BIGELOW — Emergency responders from Worthington, Bigelow and Sibley, Iowa, were on the scene of a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Minnesota 60, approximately two miles north of Bigelow.
Involved were a sport utility vehicle and a semi tractor-trailer. According to reports at the scene, the two vehicles collided head-on.
