NCSO: vehicle off roadway, 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Minnesota 60 in mile 7, Worthington.

NCSO: vehicle stuck in road, 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, 19000 block of 160th Street, Wilmont.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: two-vehicle crash with injuries, Wednesday, Iowa 9, east of Lester, Iowa. Aaron VandeKamp, 29, Rock Rapids, Iowa, was driving a 2001 Buick LeSabre westbound when he struck a snowdrift and lost control of the vehicle, sliding sideways in the roadway. Robert Caswell, 62, of Brandon, South Dakota, was driving a 2023 Ford F150 eastbound and struck the passenger side of the Buick. Both vehicles are considered a total loss. VandeKamp was transported by Lyon County Ambulance to Avera Rock Rapids. Caswell was transported by Lester Rescue to Avera Rock Rapids. Assisting at the scene were Lester Fire Department and Trackside Service of Alvord, Iowa.

Fire

Osceola County Sheriff’s Office: residence fire in Ashton, Iowa. Upon investigation at the scene, David Alvarez Jr., 32, of Ashton, was arrested and charged with alleged first-degree arson and first degree criminal mischief, both felonies. Alvarez was booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $35,000 bond.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office: disabled vehicle, 6:58 a.m. Wednesday, Jackson County 34 and Minnesota 86, Lakefield. The occupant did not have appropriate winter clothing and was quite cold, and warmed up in the squad car while a tow truck was summoned.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office: motor vehicle theft, 3:04 p.m. Wednesday, from Speedway gas station in Jackson. A 2017 GMC Acadia was taken from the parking lot. The vehicle was later located by a Minnesota State Trooper on Minnesota 60, near Madelia. The vehicle was in the ditch, and the driver had requested a tow. When the trooper learned the vehicle was stolen from Jackson County, the 24-year-old male driver, from Jackson, was arrested on multiple traffic-related violations, as well as vehicle theft, an active warrant from Ramsey County for theft, and an active warrant for trespassing in Scott County.
