Legally Blonde closes out 64th season at the Okoboji Summer Theatre

OKOBOJI, Iowa — Harvard’s beloved blonde takes the stage by pink storm in Legally Blonde, a fun, upbeat story of self-discovery and award-winning musical based on the movie, Legally Blonde.

The musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Book by Heather Hach, Music and Lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Director Amy Fritsche leads this cast of Stephens College students and professional guest artists including OST veteran Kyle Groff.

Describing this iconic production, Fritsche said, “The themes of woman empowerment, friendship, finding your voice and love are as relevant today as when the movie came out in 2001. Legally Blonde continues to inspire generations to believe in themselves and take control of their own destiny.”

The final production of the 64th session of Okoboji Summer Theatre runs from Aug. 9-14. Curtain times are 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 4:30 p.m. Saturday matinee; and 6 p.m. Sunday.
