Library News: Week of Aug. 28, 2022

The libraries will be closed Saturday and Monday in observance of Labor Day.

WORTHINGTON — The Nobles County Library, 407 12th St., Worthington, is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Adrian Branch Library, 214 Maine Ave., Adrian, is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Nobles County Library will be closed Saturday, Sept. 3 and Monday, Sept. 5 in observance of Labor Day.

Author visits

Author and Illustrator Hector Curriel will visit the Nobles County Library in Worthington on Sept. 19. Curriel is author and illustrator of “American Ace Joe Foss, Fighter Pilot”. He will present a teen program from 4 to 4:45 p.m., and a program for adults from 6 to 7 p.m.

Author William Kent Krueger will visit the Nobles County Library on Sept. 24. Author of “This Tender Land”, “Lightning Strike”, “Purgatory Ridge”, “Ordinary Grace” and more, he will speak from 1 to 2 p.m.

Programming

Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Club: The next meeting is 5 p.m. Sept. 14, in the library’s Program Room. This month’s topic is apocalypse.

Friends of the Library Book Club: The next meeting is 6 p.m. Sept. 26, at the Worthington library. The group will discuss “The Last House on the Street,” by Diane Chamberlain. All are welcome to attend.

Youth special events in Adrian

Story time: 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. every Wednesday. Listen to stories, sing songs and learn rhymes that spark a love of reading and learning.

Fun at the Library: 1 to 2:15 p.m. Aug. 31. Free to the public.

After-School Programs

After-School Programming at the Nobles County Library in Worthington begins the week of Sept. 12. Please stop by the library or call (507) 295-5340 to sign up your children. Participants are responsible for their own ride to and from the library.

Sept. 12: Just Gurlz (Girls Grades 5-9), until 4:45 p.m.

Sept. 13: After-School Program (Grades K-5), until 4:45 p.m.

Sept. 14: Story Time (Toddlers & Preschoolers), 10 to 11 a.m.

Sept. 15: After-School Program (Grades K-5), until 4:45 p.m.

Sept. 19: Wii (Grades 5-9), until 4:45 p.m. (Schedules will be distributed.)
