WORTHINGTON — An emergency alert was issued at about 3:30 p.m. advising drivers to avoid traveling on Minnesota 60 from the Iowa border to Brewster, Minnesota, as there are multiple-car pile-ups north and south of Worthington.

Previously, Minnesota 60 eastbound at Interstate 90 was closed due to a crash, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. A witness reported that that more than 50 cars were waiting to get moving, and initially MnDOT said it would likely be closed until 4 p.m.
