WORTHINGTON — Nobles County Community Services was awarded $150,000 through the Department of Employment and Economic Development for the development of child care solutions for the county last week.
The two major priorities set to be funded by the grant are a child care fund for current child care providers and an expansion fund to help new and existing providers add child care slots to their businesses.
While the details of the budget remain to be determined, county staff and project managers emphasized that the funding will be used to support new and existing child care providers in the county.
“Our goal is to help strengthen child care in Nobles County by assisting our current child care providers and adding additional slots, and this funding will help us do that,” said Joshua Schuetz, a project manager with Community and Economic Development Associates, which is contracted to work on the project.
Further details about the programs to be funded through the DEED grant will be shared in the coming weeks.
