The evening will be a celebration of Syttende Mai, or May 17, which marks the 1814 signing of Norway’s constitution and its independence from Sweden. He will also incorporate the history of some of the church congregations, daily life and immigrant-related artifacts in the Jackson County museum located in Lakefield.
Riordan was born and raised in Windom, graduating from Windom Area High School in 2012. He first became involved with museums taking an internship with the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul, with additional stints at museums in Two Harbors and New Ulm before becoming museum director of the Jackson County Historical Society in 2021.
