Spencer Wieneke hired as new Learning Center principal

WORTHINGTON — District 518 has hired Spencer Wieneke as the new principal of the Learning Center, after he has spent the past year as its dean of students.

"We are excited to have Spencer as our Learning Center Principal," said Anne Foley, public relations/communications coordinator for District 518.

Wieneke is a graduate of Adrian High School. He earned his elementary education degree from Winona State University and began teaching sixth grade at Worthington Middle School in 2015. He completed his master's degree at Augustana University during his time with District 518, as well as his educational leadership degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Wieneke has also served as a coach for multiple sports teams at WMS as well as Worthington High School during his tenure.

Wieneke's duties as dean of students included assisting the Learning Center principal in administration as well as supporting specialized programs such as night school, online school, targeted services and summer school.
