WORTHINGTON — Worthington Middle School teacher and coach Spencer Wieneke has been named dean of students for the Learning Center, District 518 announced today.
"We are excited to have Spencer begin his new role with the district on August 1 at the Learning Center," said Anne Foley, District 518 public relations/communications coordinator.
In his new position, Wieneke will assist the principal of the Learning Center in the overall administration and support for specialized programs, including the Learning Center itself, VIBE, the district's online option, targeted services and summer school.
Wieneke is a graduate of Adrian High School and earned an elementary education degree from Winona State University. He joined the WMS staff in 2015 to teach sixth grade. He has coached many different WMS and Worthington High School sports teams during his tenure.
While he was working for District 518, he completed his master's degree from Augustana University, followed by his educational leadership degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
