Windom man killed in rural Cottonwood County crash on Monday

WINDOM — A 54-year-old Windom man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of Minnesota 62 and Cottonwood County 5.

Henry Ngisa Nyandwaki was the passenger in a 2005 Pontiac Vibe that was struck from behind as it was slowing for the intersection. The Vibe’s driver, Elizabeth Matete Ngisa, 15, of Windom, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Windom hospital. It is unknown if either was wearing a seatbelt.

The Vibe, along with a Ford F350 truck, were both westbound on Minnesota 62 when the crash occurred. It was reported at 12:29 p.m. The driver of the truck, Scott Craig Runck, 37, of Avoca, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Sanford Worthington Medical Center. It’s also unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.

Assisting at the scene were area sheriff’s deputies, the Windom Police, Fire and Ambulance, Heron Lake Police and Fire and the Westbrook Fire Department.
