Winter Storm Watch issued for the region

Total snow accumulations of three to seven inches are predicted, and a light glaze of ice is possible. Blizzard conditions are also possible.

WORTHINGTON — The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has issued a Winter Storm Watch for southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa and southeast South Dakota from late tonight (Wednesday) through Friday morning.

Total snow accumulations of three to seven inches are predicted, and a light glaze of ice is possible. Blizzard conditions are also possible as winds could gust as high as 50 miles per hour.

Travel could be very difficult, and patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Affected counties in Minnesota include Nobles, Rock, Jackson, Cottonwood, Pipestone, Murray, Lincoln and Lyon. In Iowa, Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson and counties south and east of there are also in the watch area.
