There has been much discussion about global warming lately. You just can't avoid the subject; it's in our face all the time. You turn on the television and they have children ticking "Tic, tic, ..." to indicate we're all in trouble and something must be done. And then there's the public service announcement with a train that depicts the global warming disaster coming toward a little girl, who represents the next generation.
I don't disagree there may be some global warming, but I don't agree that it is because of the human race. Back in the early 1970s, we were put on notice that another ice age was coming. It didn't.
A recent report for National Geographic states that Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of the St. Petersburg Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says that data coming back from Mars shows that for the past three years the southern polar ice cap there has been shrinking, too, and that it is the result of the sun.
So, the debate about global warming goes on. What we all need to do is look at all the evidence and not jump on a bandwagon because those in political circles and others have something to gain by the scare tactics being used.
