ELLSWORTH - Steven Hup, 59, of Luverne was killed in a broadside crash early Monday evening at the intersection of Minnesota 91 and Nobles County State Aid Highway 6, north of Ellsworth.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash - reported at 5:39 p.m. - involved a 2008 Ford Super Duty driven by Brock Jacobs, 25, of Adrian, and the Chevy driven by Hup.
The Ford, which was pulling a trailer with a Skid Steer on it, was stopped at the stop sign on Nobles County 6 eastbound and then proceeded to make a left turn to go north on Minnesota 91. The Chevy was westbound on Nobles County 6 and collided with the trailer in the intersection.
Hup died at the scene. Neither Jacobs nor his passenger, Benyamin Taracena, 19, of Lismore, sustained apparent injuries.
Assisting at the scene were the Ellsworth Fire and Rescue and the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office.

The Minnesota State Patrol has released the name of the victim in the fatal accident. Steven Hup, 59, Luverne was driving the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado and died at the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol plans to release more information at noon today about the victim in a fatal crash north of Ellsworth Monday night.

ELLSWORTH - The Minnesota State Patrol and the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal crash at 5:39 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Minnesota 91 and Nobles County Road 6, north of Ellsworth.
