ST. PAUL -- District 22 Sen. Doug Magnus announced Monday that he will not be seeking re-election in November.
Slayton, R-Slayton, has served in the Minnesota Legislature for 10 years. He represented District 22A in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003-2010 and was elected to his first term in the Minnesota Senate in 2010.
"I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to represent my community at the Capitol," Magnus said in a Monday news release. "However, I feel that it is time for me to step aside and give another Minnesotan a chance to serve.
"At the end of this term, I will have been in the Legislature for 10 years and, for me, that is enough. It is best for the constituents of southwest Minnesota to send someone to St. Paul who can bring new and innovative ideas to government."
