LAKE PARK, Iowa - A Lake Park man has been arrested for probation violations, according to a press release from that community’s police department.
The Lake Park Police Department received information from the Iowa Department of Probation on Thursday of a wanted felon living in Lake Park. Officers from those two agencies, along with on deputies from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, executed a felony arrest warrant at 604 N. Market St., Lake Park.
Lake Park Police Chief Joe Hoover arrested John Paul Toombs, 30, on a felony arrest warrant for probation violations.
A subsequent search of the residence and vehicle revealed a .380 semi-auto pistol, Mossberg 20-gauge shot gun and about 300 rounds of ammunition.
Toombs was additionally charged with two counts of felon in possession of firearm and one count of felon in possession of ammunition. All three charges are class D felonies.
Toombs was arrested without incident and was taken to the Dickinson County Jail. He is being held without bond.
Hoover contacted federal agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to request that Toombs be charged in federal court for the weapons violations.
