Becker County authorities are investigating a serious assault in which a 22-year-old Naytahwaush man was beaten, tied up and left in an overturned vehicle.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
According to the sheriff's department:
At 2:03 a.m. Sunday deputies and tribal police officers responded to an anonymous complaint about an assault occurring at a home in White Earth village.
Officers found the house locked and apparently vacant, but were able to get inside. Nobody was there, but they found "a substantial amount of evidence, including blood, indicating that an assault had actually occurred."

A short time later, a deputy found an overturned 1985 Ford Explorer on a county road south of White Earth village, with the victim in the back. The man had been tied up and was suffering from multiple injuries.
He was transported to St. Mary's Innovis Health Center.
"The injuries are serious in nature and the victim has been unable to provide details, which is why his name is being withheld as investigators continue to work on this case," Sheriff Tim Gordon said in a news release.
The sheriff's department believes the assault was not a random act and that the victim knew the suspects.
