WORTHINGTON — Oscar Becerra-Ruiz, 19, of Maplewood, has been charged with five counts in Nobles County Fifth District Court, including felony-level fifth-degree drug possession, following a Sept. 13 incident in Worthington.

Becerra-Ruiz was stopped by law enforcement on Interstate 90 after he was seen traveling at 91 miles per hour in a 70 mph speed zone. During a conversation with law enforcement, a strong odor of marijuana was reportedly coming from inside the vehicle. Becerra-Ruiz allegedly admitted to having a small amount of THC oil.

Upon further search of the vehicle, the following items were found, according to the report: $6,000 in cash in six bundles of $1,000 each, two-“Stiiizy” THC vape cartridges, marijuana, a digital scale, a rolling paper machine, several packages labeled as cannabis flowers, several bottles of promethazine codeine prescribed to various individuals, an unused syringe and a concentrate device.

His charges include felony fifth-degree drug possession, possessing more than one-quarter gram of marijuana in a motor vehicle (misdemeanor), instruction permit violation (misdemeanor), speeding (petty misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (petty misdemeanor).
