WORTHINGTON — A Worthington resident has been charged with a series of offenses regarding an assault that took place Sept. 14 at the Red Carpet Inn.

When officers arrived at the scene, the victim was shaken up and crying, and their neck and chest were red and their shirt ripped. The victim reported that Ath Xayachack, 59, had become upset and began hurting the victim by hitting and kicking them and waving a knife.

Xayachack reportedly stated that this was the victim's "last day" and that he was going to prison. Then, he allegedly held the victim down by the throat so the victim could not breathe and feared for their life. After the assault, the victim explained, Xayachack left the scene.

Police recovered a knife and sheath matching the victim's description from the hotel room.

Xayachack was later apprehended when he returned to the Red Carpet Inn. He was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon — a felony with a maximum possible sentence of seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine — felony threats of violence with intent to terrorize, felony domestic assault and two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault.
