WORTHINGTON -- A 25-year-old male was stabbed in the leg by another man Tuesday while working on the line at Swift and Co., according to Worthington Public Safety Director Mike Cumiskey.
The stabbing was reported to the Worthington Police Department by the Worthington Specialty Clinic Urgent Care at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday evening. Cumiskey said the stabbing took place just prior to the victim being brought to the hospital for medical care.
The victim told police the identity of the man who allegedly stabbed him, and authorities are investigating the incident.
Swift Vice President of Communications Sean McHugh, speaking from the corporate plant in Greeley, Colo., confirmed the altercation between the two men and said both are suspended pending an internal investigation. McHugh said he had no knowledge of what led to the altercation, but added if the results of the internal investigation found that either man had violated corporate policy, that man would be dismissed.
"No official police reports have been filed to my knowledge," McHugh said Wednesday.

McHugh indicated there were varying versions of what happened on the floor that day.
"I have no knowledge or comment to that," McHugh said of why Swift didn't report the incident directly to the police. "One man was wounded around the ankle and treated and released the same night."
