WORTHINGTON - Minnesota West Community and Technical College will be participating in the Workforce Development Scholarship Pilot program by awarding 20 $2,500 scholarships to students who plan to enroll at Minnesota West for the fall 2018 term.
The 2017 Minnesota Legislature created the Workforce Development Scholarship Pilot to encourage students to enroll in high-demand occupations in areas of advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care services and information technology programs.
“We are excited about the workforce development scholarship and the support from legislators in creating this opportunity to help workforce demands. This is an excellent scholarship and financial opportunity for future students,” Director of Marketing & Enrollment Amber Luinenburg said.
Minnesota West also hopes to enhance the Workforce Development Scholarships by partnering with individuals, organizations and industries that will benefit from graduates in the targeted programs.
“Creating partnership opportunities with campus supporters, business and industry makes sense for our foundation, our students and our communities,” Minnesota West Foundation Director Michael Van Keulen said. “We are hopeful that we can create additional workforce scholarships dollars with the help of our stakeholders.”
Scholarship recipients will need to complete at least nine credits per term and maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA. Application information is available at www.mnwest.edu/paying-for-college/scholarships/workforce-development-scholarship .
