SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa -- The body of a man who jumped into West Lake Okoboji was recovered Monday afternoon approximately 24 hours after he went missing, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff's Officer.
Chad Lenz, 30, of Carroll, Iowa, jumped into the water from a boat to retrieve a hat, it was reported, while his wife and two children remained in the boat. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time.
The search for his body began shortly after the incident was reported Sunday at 1:36 p.m., and continued until dark, then resumed Monday morning. Lenz's body was recovered shortly after 1 p.m. Monday.
