MOORHEAD - David Earl Donley's Moorhead neighbor always wondered why Donley used her bathroom when he stopped to visit.
Papers filed in Clay County District Court may shed light on that question.
Donley, 40, 2007 11th St. S., faces theft charges in connection with the disappearance of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from homes in Moorhead, including a class ring and a "Mom" necklace that disappeared from the bathroom of one of Donley's neighbors.
Court papers state that an investigation into open-house thefts led police to suspect Donley.
Under questioning, Donley told police he took items from a number of residences having open houses.

Police found several people who said they had items missing from their homes, much of it jewelry.
They included a woman who told police an estimated $500 worth of jewelry, including a class ring and a "Mom" necklace, disappeared from her bathroom.
She told police Donley was her neighbor and she always wondered why he wanted to use her bathroom when he visited, according to a court complaint.
The woman's necklace and class ring were eventually found at a pawn shop in Fargo.
Another woman reported that a necklace valued at nearly $900 was taken from her residence during an open house in January.
She told police she knows Donley from church and saw him enter the open house to look at her residence.
