ADRIAN ― An Adrian mother is facing criminal charges after a search warrant was executed on her home.
When Nobles County deputy sheriffs arrived at the residence of Jessica Swanson, 26, on Nov. 19, they noted that Swanson appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
A search of the home revealed a hypodermic needle filled with a clear substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Paraphernalia associated with marijuana use was also located inside the residence. Police were aware that three children live in the home with Swanson.
Swanson was arrested and charged with felony storing of meth in the presence of children, gross misdemeanor fifth-degree controlled substance crime and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The felony charge carries a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine, but if she's convicted, Swanson will be sentenced based on criminal history.
After her arrest, Swanson agreed to speak with deputies. She allegedly told them she had used meth the previous day and explained that she is unable to perform the intravenous injection herself, so someone has to do it for her.

Swanson was released from Nobles County Jail Nov. 20 on conditional bail at no cost. Her initial court appearance is set for Thursday morning.
