Name released in Cottonwood County fatal

WINDOM -- The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man who died Tuesday evening after his car went off the road and hit some trees.

WINDOM -- The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man who died Tuesday evening after his car went off the road and hit some trees.

According to the statement, Joel John Evers, 44, of Bingham Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Cottonwood County 2, north of Bingham Lake.

A woman was driving on the road shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when she came across a vehicle in the ditch. It looked like the car had hit some trees and was possibly still running, she told authorities.

The sheriff's office, Windom Fire and Rescue and the Windom Ambulance were dispatched to the scene, a half mile south of 370th Street. Upon arrival, Evers was pronounced dead. The Minnesota State Patrol and Mountain Lake Police Department also assisted at the scene.

Evers was driving a 1989 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight.

Funeral arrangements are pending with LaCanne Family Funeral Service, Windom.
